DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post-DHL Group, has finalised its senior management line up following the creation of a single Asia-Pacific operating division late last year. Latest appointees to join the Asia-Pacific board are Lawrence Lee as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Tim Martin as new Head of Marketing and Sales.
The appointment as head of marketing and sales for Asia-Pacific marks a return to Asia for Martin, a 20-year logistics veteran, who has spent the past four years as Vice President, Sales Strategy and Development for DHL Express in Bonn, Germany. Martin, who joined DHL in 2003, previously worked in India, The Philippines and Malaysia with DHL Express in various roles from National Sales Manager to Deputy Country Manager. He has also worked in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and the United Kingdom. As Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Asia Pacific, Martin will be based in Singapore and responsible for sales activities across all 18 countries in the region. This includes the development of multinational customers, industry sectors and trade lane, marketing communications and tender management.
Lee joins DHL Global Forwarding from Wal-Mart Global Sourcing where he led the Business Processes and Systems group. Having formerly worked in senior roles in various global multinational companies, Lee is an information technology leader with tremendous regional and cross sector IT experience, particularly in leading large IT teams through transformations from legacy systems to standardized common platforms. Lee will report to global DHL Global Forwarding Freight CIO Sylvia Steinmann, with a dotted line to Kelvin Leung. His responsibilities will include driving DHL Global Forwarding’s ambitious IT agenda across the region as the division seeks better alignment with its customers and even more cost-effective and superior services.
