Deliveroo and Feeding Hong Kong to present the “No Food Wasted Cooking Challenge”

Deliveroo announced the beginning of the “No Food Wasted Cooking Challenge,” a project planned in conjunction with local NGO, Feeding Hong Kong to commemorate #WorldFoodDay on 16 October and encourage the reduction of food waste. As part of Deliveroo’s global Full Life campaign, Deliveroo wishes to bring attention to the 3,200 tonnes of food that are sent to landfills in Hong Kong every day, while over one-fifth of the city’s population lives below the poverty line and experiences food insecurity.

From today until the 11th of October, all foodies are encouraged to create delicious dishes that leave zero food waste. To reward their green efforts, winners will be awarded HKD 1,016 Deliveroo grocery vouchers. In addition to the competition, Deliveroo and Feeding Hong Kong will also launch two food drives in the next three weeks, one for the corporate sector and another through its Editions sites.

The “No Food Wasted Cooking Challenge” offers everyone the chance to demonstrate their culinary ingenuity as they highlight the various ways in which they may reduce food waste while cooking. With small acts of green cooking, both pro and amateur chefs can battle climate change and food insecurity, making a real difference.

To further support zero food waste, Deliveroo and Feeding Hong Kong are launching a corporate food drive challenge from 26 September through to 21 October. The donated food will be collected and weighed by Feeding Hong Kong. To honour the efforts of the businesses that contribute to the most donations, Deliveroo for Work (DfW) will provide all their staff members up to three months of free delivery on their Deliveroo orders.

Deliveroo is also encouraging the general public to get involved and donate staple foods to five different Deliveroo Editions sites in Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O, Quarry Bay, Cheung Sha Wan and Kwai Tsing.

Customers who donate more than three food items at these Editions sites from 14 to 16 October will be given canned cold brew coffee and coffee drip bags from The Coffee Academics, donut from J.CO Donuts & Coffee or Caramel PecanBon from Cinnabon, on a first come, first served basis.
