A replacement has not been announced, with the Treviso-based firm adding that an internal team will take over Incontri’s design duties, according to a statement.

Benetton added the decision was made in mutual agreement as “part of the rearrangement of the organisation that is taking place, aimed at defining the team of managers that will flank” newly appointed chief executive officer Claudio Sforza in this “new phase of  rationalisation and relaunch of the company,” according to a WWD report.

In 2022, Incontri was named in creative director, in charge of the fashion brand’s women’s, men’s and children’s collections by former CEO, Massimo Renon, who departed the company in June this year. Incontri joined Benetton from Tod’s, where he was men’s creative director.

He made his design debut at Benetton with the unveiling of its Summer 2023 collection, during Milan Fashion Week. The company declined to show again in the following season.

The departure comes as Benetton Group tries to stem sales losses. In 2023, group revenues amounted to EUR 1.1 billion, accompanied by a net loss, which almost tripled to EUR 230 million.

Losses before interest and taxes amounted to EUR 113 million.

Benetton Group was founded in 1965, and launched its first Asia store in Tokyo in 1982. Today, the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Benetton family’s holding company, Edizione.
