Discount retailer Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retail chain, plans to globalise its store purchasing operations and increase direct purchasing in an effort to reduce costs. According to the Financial Times, Wal-Mart intends to consolidate sourcing for the 15 international markets where it operates.
