Yamato to team with Line Corp. for new delivery service

Japan’s Yamato Transport Co. is planning a new delivery service this year in which people can send a parcel to someone without knowing their address.

Under the new service, to be run in cooperation with messaging application provider Line Corp., Yamato would act as a third-party buffer between sender and receiver, Yamato Transport President Yutaka Nagao said in a recent interview.

As a result, people will be able to send parcels to receivers who have provided Yamato with their home address. Nagao said demand was expected to grow for sending gifts to acquaintances without having to exchange private address details.
