Aeon Mall Hanoi Vietnam - Retail in Asia

AEON MALL Co. has decided to open a second shopping mall in Hanoi and its fifth in Vietnam, provisionally called AEONMALL Ha Dong.

The Japanese retailer signed a memorandum of understanding on March 10 on cooperation with Hanoi regarding a commercial environment development together with the development, support and promotion of AEONMALL Ha Dong.

Though no details about the location of the new project have been revealed, AEONMALL Ha Dong is expected to occupy 95,000 sq m in Ha Dong district, with an opening expected in 2019.

Ha Dong is located to the west of Hanoi and is receiving increased investment due to the expansion of the ring road system, the ongoing introduction of the first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network in Vietnam connecting Ha Dong with the city center, and the urban railway line, which will come into operation in 2018. The district also has a rising population and many residential development projects with apartments and villas.

AEON is the largest retail corporation in Japan. With two shopping centers in Hanoi, the AEON MALL brand is staking out a position in Vietnam’s capital. Three other shopping centers have opened in the south: Aeon Mall Tan Phu Celadon and Aeon Mall Binh Tan in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Phu and Binh Tan districts, and Aeon Mall Canary Binh Duong in Binh Duong province’s Thuan An town.
