The Chinese designer, known for her colourful approach and fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics, remains one of fashion’s brightest up and coming young talents. Following the success of their first collaboration earlier this year, Angel Chen for Canada Goose Fall 2021 ushers in the season with pieces that blend Canada Goose’s functional expertise with Angel Chen’s signature style.

This season’s collection is inspired by the transitional journey from the urban fall environment in the East to nature in the West, immersed in the Canadian winter mountains. Inspired by Canada Goose’s most iconic parka, the Snow Mantra, Angel Chen as Guest Designer pushes boundaries and delivers a lifestyle collection that combines Canada Goose fabrics, technology and design features with her aesthetic. The collection features bold silhouettes with new belted pieces and A-line shapes, as well as provides stylish versatility with bright colours and reversible jackets for a more unique and customised look.

This capsule presents pieces that are designed to fit any climate, condition and season with items that can be layered, worn together or on their own to work within various lifestyles, providing custom warmth and protection no matter the elements.

This includes the women’s Alxa Coat with its feminine A-line silhouette and the Rayla Vest, which features a belt detail and hood that unzips into a dramatic collar. The reversible styles – the men’s Bayan Puffer and Bayan Vest – are Angel Chen’s playful approach to winter essentials; oversized, dropped shoulders and an adjustable hem.

Canada Goose continues to keep sustainability at the forefront and continues to innovate for the betterment of the planet. As a result, both the Bayan Puffer and Vest are made with the Recycled Feather-Light Ripstop Fabric, which is designed to protect from high winds, rain and snow with its water-repellent finish.

Angel Chen further bridges the gap between Canada Goose’s outerwear and her design approach by adding her signature Chinese embroidery and graphics. The collection’s windwear and apparel feature her artwork, which are inspired by the story of the Snow Mantra. Developed for industrial and commercial work in some of the coldest regions on the planet, the Snow Mantra is designed to protect throughout the winter months against extreme elements.

Looking to encourage, uplift and inspire people to become stronger, Angel Chen’s embroidery is of snowy mountains and people summiting their peaks. The other embroidered graphics also show a dragon flying from East to West, an homage of two cultures coming together. These details can be found on the Farra Jacket, the Huli Bomber and the Dala Hoody for women, as well as the Marro Coat, the Marro Jacket and the Niro Hoody for men.

The collection also includes the women’s Dyrow Jacket and the men’s Baner Bomber and introduces two new accessories: the Double Pom Toque and the convertible Waistpack, which easily transforms into a clutch or can be worn crossbody thanks to the brand’s heritage inspired co-branded grab strap.

The theme of seasonal transition is emphasised with the collection’s colorways: a soft green, bright yellow and an impactful blue. These new colours perfectly represent the end of summer, into the beautiful colours of leaves in the fall and finally, to a cool hue for the winter.

The Fall 2021 collection also brings back styles from the inaugural collection, notably the capsule’s pinnacle products: the versatile women’s Cropped Snow Mantra Parka for Angel Chen, and the men’s Convertible Snow Mantra for Angel Chen. The collection also includes the women’s Mordaga Rain Jacket and men’s Mogan Rain Jacket, as well as the Mini Crossbody Bag and the Crossbody Bag, which converts seamlessly into a backpack.

Canada Goose and Angel Chen are again bringing their collection to life through a Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) campaign, uniting two cultures with different landscapes. Through this approach, the campaign presents the many ways the Convertible Snow Mantra can be worn, no matter the location or the elements – as a hooded vest, a cropped jacket or with an oversized collar.

Nature serves as the backdrop for the campaign and is the embodiment of Canada Goose’s ethos “Live in the Open,” encouraging people to live freely and express themselves. Angel Chen for Canada Goose inspires consumers to embrace the world around them, with the capsule’s apparel and accessories enabling this exploration.
