Korea’s Amorepacific appoints new US head

Amorepacific Group announced  the appointment of Jessica Hanson as President and General Manager of Amorepacific US Inc.

The Korean beauty group has recruited Hanson to oversee “all strategic marketing, sales and operations functions,” in the respective US market, according to a press release.

She will be tasked with increasing market share in the US and with creating more awareness for Amorepacific‘s portfolio of cosmetics, personal care, and health care products in America.

The appointment comes at a time when the Asian group faces a pivotal point in its growth plan. Looking forward, the company said it is focused on “keeping pace with changes in market strategies,” which will couple with investments in product research and innovation.

“Ms. Hanson is a strong visionary leader with excellent track record of growing beauty brands and we look forward to expanding our market share in the US, the world’s largest market, under her leadership,” said Dong-Hyun Bae, President of Amorepacific Group.

A fifteen-year cosmetic veteran, Hanson most recently worked at Perricone MD where she was Chief Marketing and Sales Officer. Prior to this, she was at L’Oréal USA for eight years. She has previously held leadership roles in sales and marketing for L’Oréal Paris and Clarisonic.

Hanson was also Vice President of Brands at Sephora for luxury fragrances and men’s grooming.

In 2000, Amorepacific group launched Innisfree, a Korean skincare brand known for its accessible prices and use of natural ingredients such as green tea.

In September 2017, Innisfree opened its first US store in New York. At the time, the retailer said it plans to follow up the debut with more store openings in New York, as well as entering Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Founded 70 years ago, Amorepacific focuses on bringing “Asian beauty” to local and foreign markets.
