Thailand’s tourism and retail toll heavy as floods submerged Hat Yai

The severe floods that submerged Hat Yai have taken a heavy toll on the tourism and retail businesses of the in the South Thailand’s main commercial centre.

Prakit Chinamourphong, president of the Thai Hotels Association, said it was too early to evaluate tourism damage from the floods as many areas of the town could not be reached or contacted.

CP All Plc, the operator of 7-Eleven convenience stores, said that about 20 of its stores in Hat Yai were submerged and the company was losing about THB600,000 (USD20,195) in daily sales from the stores.
