Indonesian consumers less optimistic on business conditions, says survey

Indonesia’s consumers were less optimistic in February, expecting a slowdown in business conditions over the next six months, a central bank survey showed on Wednesday.

The consumer confidence index eased to 116.2 from 116.7 in the previous reading. A reading above 100 indicates that consumers in general are optimistic.

But the Bank Indonesia survey said that optimism over the economy, compared with the last six months, as well as manageable price expectations had helped keep consumer confidence relatively strong.
