Retailers zero in on wedding demands

The grand Indian wedding is as lavish as ever, with no one tightening their purse strings when it comes to splurging. Moreover, Christmas round the corner is also keeping retailers busy. The season coincides with improved consumer sentiment in retail spends, which is growing by 30% in the third quarter of the 2009-10 fiscal, as compared to 20% growth witnessed during the second quarter.

“The wedding and festival season commenced from August will go on till the end of the year. Given this, we have seen a renewal in customer sentiments, and our sales have grown over 20% compared to the same period last year. We are confident that this trend will continue even into the new calendar year,” Big Bazzar spokersperson said.
