Zimmermann opens its largest store in Melbourne

Australian luxury label Zimmermann opened its largest store in Melbourne, the womenswear brand’s fifth in the Australian fashion capital.

Located on Melbourne’s High Street in Armadale, the 158 square-metre store stocks the biggest range of Zimmermann clothing in the state of Victoria.

Designed by interior creative Don McQualter, who has worked on previous Zimmermann stores, the Armadale shop boasts whitewashed walls and a stucco vaulted ceiling, signature to the brand. Furnishings include wicker chairs and plush couches.

“We have been looking for spaces that give us the opportunity to provide a different type of experience,” Nicky Zimmermann, the label’s co-founder, told local media.

“Something a little bit more relaxed, away from some of the busier store locations in the city.”

The opening follows the renovation of the Sydney brand’s Paddington store in Sydney, as well as a revamp of its West Hollywood location in Los Angeles.

The Melbourne High Street store is the label’s 22nd globally, with 18 stores throughout Australia, three in New York, and one in LA.

In February, Zimmermann will open a central Sydney flagship and new stores in Miami and New York. By mid-year, Zimmerman hopes to open its first European store in London.

Founded in 1991, Zimmermann was created by Sydney sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann. The label is renowned for its swimwear, playsuits, and summery midi-dresses, as well as accessories such as leather sandals, straw hats and Turkish-cotton beach towels.
