China’s e-commerce law aims to protect intellectual property rights

China’s planned e-commerce law will protect intellectual property rights as the government is determined to crack down on sales of fake goods online, an official said on Thursday.

Other key initiatives the government plans this year include improving supervision, drafting relevant laws and regulations to ensure stable market order, said Shen Danyang, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce.

The ministry will draft tighter regulations to better protect intellectual property rights and create a fair e-commerce market environment, Shen said when asked about the ministry’s latest efforts on curbing online sales of fake goods.
